Loose skin on the lower tummy, the fold under the buttock and the back of the upper arm are the body concerns Dr Sin Yong sees most, and the three protocols he reaches for are his own: VF Lift – Vertical Facelift for the Body, Time Freeze Laser LCLR® and the 4K Body Lift. They are not interchangeable. One firms skin that has lost its recoil, one treats skin and the thin layer of fat under it together, and one is directed at a compact, pinchable deposit. The examination decides which leads.
A tummy that hangs, a buttock fold that has dropped and an upper arm that moves when you wave can each come from three different findings, and often from two at once. The skin may have lost its elastic recoil, so it stays tented when pinched and settles slowly. There may be a thin layer of superficial fat under skin that has also loosened, which is the usual picture after pregnancy or a moderate weight change. Or there may be a compact, resistant deposit that is firm to the pinch under skin that still snaps back. Dr Sin Yong examines each area standing and lying, pinches, releases and watches the recoil, because the protocol follows the finding rather than the area.
VF Lift for the Body is the same protocol Dr Sin Yong developed for the face, applied to the body. Monopolar radiofrequency on the CLASSYS Volnewmer platform heats the dermis and its fibrous septa as a volume, and the handpiece is worked along vertical vectors so that tissue is encouraged to sit higher rather than simply tighter. On the tummy the vectors run from the pubic line towards the ribs; on the buttock from the fold upwards; on the arm from the elbow towards the shoulder. It does not remove fat. It is the choice when the pinch test shows skin that has lost recoil over little fat, which is common on the inner arm after fifty and on the lower abdomen after pregnancy once the weight has gone. The US FDA clearance for Volnewmer covers electrocoagulation and haemostasis of soft tissue (K240248); in a randomised split-face trial, Volnewmer and Thermage FLX produced comparable changes in facial laxity measures (Roh 2025).

Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is Dr Sin Yong’s dual-wavelength laser protocol, and the LCLR in the name stands for laser collagen lipo-remodelling. One wavelength is directed at the dermis for collagen contraction and remodelling; the second reaches the superficial fat layer so that a thin layer of fat and the loose skin over it are treated in the same zone. On the body it is applied to the underarm fold, the lower abdomen and love handles, the lower buttock and banana fold, and the inner thigh. It is the usual lead protocol after pregnancy or a moderate weight change, where neither the skin nor the fat is the whole story. Where an earlier biostimulator has over-stimulated an area, the same protocol is built to target it and take away the excess.
The 4K Body Lift is Dr Sin Yong’s protocol on the Secret DUO platform, which delivers radiofrequency through insulated microneedles at set depths (FDA 510(k) K202043). It is directed at the firm, resistant deposit on the lower tummy, the flank, the back of the upper arm or the outer thigh in someone near their usual weight, and at the skin over it in the same session. It is a contouring protocol, not a skin protocol: reducing fat under skin that has already lost its recoil leaves the same outline and looser skin, so the skin question is settled first and the 4K Body Lift follows, or is combined, once the plan is clear.
Tummy. The lower abdomen after pregnancy usually carries all three findings. Dr Sin Yong first checks for separation of the abdominal wall (diastasis), because a wall that needs repair is a surgical question and no energy device changes it. Where the wall is intact, Time Freeze Laser LCLR® usually leads, VF Lift for the Body is added where the skin above the navel has loosened, and the 4K Body Lift is reserved for a persistent pinchable pad. The sagging tummy page and the postpartum tummy page set out the sequence.
Buttocks. The complaint is rarely size; it is the fold that has dropped and the crease under it (the banana fold). VF Lift for the Body is worked from the fold upwards along vertical vectors; Time Freeze Laser LCLR® treats the perigluteal zone where the fold carries a thin layer of fat; the 4K Body Lift is directed at a compact deposit on the outer buttock or the upper thigh that spoils the line. Anyone wanting added volume rather than a lift is assessed for the non-surgical buttock lift instead.
Arms. The back of the upper arm loosens early because the skin there is thin and the triceps area carries a small fat pad. On the arm the protocols are applied along the long axis from elbow to shoulder: VF Lift for the Body for skin that has lost recoil, Time Freeze Laser LCLR® where the pad and the laxity coexist, and the 4K Body Lift for a firm pad under skin that still recoils. Marked hanging skin after large weight loss is a brachioplasty question and is referred.
| VF Lift for the Body | Time Freeze Laser LCLR® | 4K Body Lift | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Directed at | Lax skin and its septa | Lax skin plus the superficial fat layer | Compact, resistant fat and the skin over it |
| Energy | Monopolar RF, 6.78 MHz (Volnewmer) | Dual-wavelength laser | RF through insulated microneedles (Secret DUO) |
| The pinch test | Skin stays tented, little under it | Skin loose with a thin soft layer under it | Firm bulge, skin snaps back |
| Typical lead for | Inner arm after 50; tummy above the navel; buttock fold | Lower tummy and love handles after pregnancy; banana fold; underarm fold | Lower-tummy pad, flanks, triceps pad, outer thigh |
| Feel during treatment | Deep warmth; water cooling | Warmth and prickling; cooling used | Needle pressure under numbing cream; warmth |
| After | Mild redness for hours | Redness and warmth for a day or two | Redness, pinpoint marks and possible bruising for days |
| Not for | Pacemaker or implanted electronics, pregnancy, metal in the field | Tanned skin, active infection, pregnancy | Pregnancy, bleeding disorders, keloid tendency, active infection |
When two findings coexist, skin comes before fat. VF Lift for the Body or Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is done first so that the skin envelope is treated while it still has something to recoil over; the 4K Body Lift follows once the skin response is seen, usually several weeks later. Doing it the other way round reduces a deposit under skin that is about to loosen further. Where only one finding is present, one protocol is used and the others are not added for the sake of it.
After a large weight loss the skin of the tummy, arms and thighs can be left as an apron or a hanging fold with no recoil at all. No energy device removes that; it is an abdominoplasty, brachioplasty or body-lift question, and Dr Sin Yong says so at the first visit rather than treating around it. Abdominal wall separation wider than two fingers, a hernia, and anyone wanting a single-step surgical change are referred to a plastic surgery specialist. The loose skin after weight loss page covers where the line sits.
All three protocols heat tissue, so redness, warmth and swelling in the treated zone are expected and settle over hours to days. Monopolar radiofrequency carries a small risk of a burn or an uneven patch if cooling or coupling fails, which is why Volnewmer is used with water cooling and the handpiece is moved continuously. The laser protocol carries a risk of pigment change in tanned or recently sun-exposed skin, so sun avoidance is required before and after. Radiofrequency microneedling carries pinpoint bleeding, bruising, a small risk of infection and, in skin of colour, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; a 2023 review found the risk low with insulated needles and conservative settings (Syder 2023). None of the three is offered in pregnancy, over implanted electronics, or over active skin infection. Responses vary between individuals and no result is promised.

Dr Sin Yong examines whether the skin has lost recoil, whether a thin fat layer sits under it, or whether a compact pad is the dominant finding. Loose skin with little fat points to VF Lift for the Body; laxity with a fat layer points to Time Freeze Laser LCLR®; a firm pinchable pad under skin that recoils points to the 4K Body Lift. Abdominal wall separation is a surgical question.
Yes. VF Lift for the Body applies the same Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency protocol along vertical vectors: from the gluteal fold upwards on the buttock, and from the elbow towards the shoulder on the upper arm. It firms skin that has lost recoil; it does not remove fat or add volume.
Yes. Time Freeze Laser LCLR® is applied to the underarm fold, lower abdomen and love handles, lower buttock and banana fold, inner thigh and upper arm. The LCLR in the name stands for laser collagen lipo-remodelling: the protocol is directed at both the dermis and the superficial fat layer under it.
Two radiofrequency protocols on two platforms for two findings. VF Lift for the Body is Volnewmer monopolar radiofrequency applied to the surface, a firming protocol for skin that has lost recoil. The 4K Body Lift delivers radiofrequency through insulated microneedles on the Secret DUO at set depths, a contouring protocol directed at a compact, resistant deposit and the skin over it.
Skin first. VF Lift for the Body or Time Freeze Laser LCLR® treats the skin envelope while it still has something to recoil over, and the 4K Body Lift follows once the skin response is seen. Reducing fat under skin that has already loosened leaves the same outline and looser skin.
Marked excess skin after large weight loss, an apron or hanging fold with no recoil, abdominal wall separation that needs repair, a hernia, and anyone wanting a single-step change are referred to a plastic surgery specialist. Dr Sin Yong says so at the first visit rather than treating around it.
